My 7 Wellness Predictions for 2025

Happy new year everyone, and welcome to 2025! Now that we’re a week into the new year, it’s time to sure up your goals for the year and figure out what you’re taking (and not taking) with you from last year. It’s also time to think about what you want to try out in 2025 – whether it’s a new lifestyle habit, health tool, or approach to wellbeing.

As someone who strives to keep a finger on the pulse of the health and wellness world, including the innovations and treatments that come out each year, I’m keeping my eye on a few health trends to see where they go in 2025. I’m predicting that there will be some major shifts in the wellness landscape this year, so I thought I would share the seven trends I’m expecting to blow up this year.

These are my wellness predictions for 2025!

1. Biohacking will continue to be part of the conversation.

If you haven’t heard of biohacking before, you will this year. Biohacking is an approach to health and longevity that involves making changes to one’s diet and lifestyle habits with the goal of optimizing the body’s performance. There are so many practices that the biohacking community has laid claim to, including intermittent fasting, cryotherapy, red light therapy, and cold plunges, to name a few. This year, I think the biohacking world will focus its efforts on hormones and aging, with hormone regulation and higher NAD+ levels (a coenzyme related to aging) being two of its goals.

2. We’ll see the non-alcoholic movement continue to rise.

Sober living has been on the up and up, and I predict that more people will be “sober curious” in 2025. This is a huge shift in public health, and I have to think that the U.S. Surgeon General’s report about the connection between alcohol and cancer will further accelerate that shift. Alcohol consumption has been shown to raise our risk of at least seven different types of cancer, as well as other serious health issues. Fortunately the beverage market has been quick to cater to the nonalcoholic movement, with delicious and healthier alternatives to traditional drinks surging. People who were sober or sober curious – meaning they’re interested in sobriety, or in pursuing a less alcohol-fueled lifestyle – can now go to bars and expect to see at least one nonalcoholic beer or beverage on the menu, usually more. I predict the range of options will expand even more as people pull back on their alcohol consumption.

3. We’ll get serious about brain health.

I predict that brain health is going to be huge this year, and I’m not just talking about brain health for increased productivity or mental sharpness (which has been much of the conversation so far). I’m talking about the actual health of our brains – including how they work, how they’re affected by stress, and how we can combat age-related deterioration. Reducing stress has been shown to be essential for long-term brain health, so I expect that we’ll see an increase in mindful movement practices in 2025.

4. Vagus nerve stimulation will become mainstream.

The vagus nerve became a mainstream conversation in 2024, and I think that vagus nerve stimulation practices will become commonplace in 2025. The vagus nerve is the connecting wire between the gut and the brain, and it plays a critical role in our nervous system, especially our fight-or-flight. When we stimulate the vagus nerve, we can slow down our heart rate, lower our blood pressure, and even boost our immune system. While the vagus nerve can be stimulated through cold therapy and other do-it-yourself techniques, I think that we’ll see some health tech items that do it for us emerge in 2025.

5. Eastern and Western medicine will keep blending in the beauty industry

In 2025, I’m predicting that ancient forms of medicine and healing like Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture will continue to blend with Western medicine, in both the healthcare industry and the beauty industry. We’ve already seen people start to lean away from botox and fillers, instead opting for less invasive procedures, like light therapy, microneedling, and peptide-based skincare. In particular, I think we’ll see the concept of “collagen banking” become mainstream, which refers to practices that boost collagen production.

6. Adaptogens will improve our mental health.

Adaptogens have long been used in TCM and ayurveda to fortify the body’s systems, aid in stress management, and tackle health issues like poor digestion, fatigue, and skin condition flare-ups. This year, I think the conversation will turn towards mental health, specifically how we can use adaptogens to combat depression and anxiety symptoms. Available in teas, powders, capsules, and tinctures, I think we’ll see a whole lot more of adaptogens like ashwagandha, tulsi, cordyceps, and reishi.

7. More people will conquer their sleep issues.

I predict that 2025 is the year that people who have always struggled with sleep finally get quality Zzzs. Sleep is one area of health where generic advice has dominated, when what we’ve really needed is an individualized approach. I think 2025 will be the year that people stop at nothing to get better sleep – whether that means bringing in some sleep tech to help or sleeping separately. Mattress cooling pads and mattresses with adjustable firmness are already helping more people sleep better, and “sleep divorces,” or sleeping in separate rooms, have gained popularity. Sleep apps and wearables, which give you valuable insights on your sleep, are also helping inconsistent sleepers. Whatever path people ultimately take, I think we’re on the brink of a sleep revolution and that getting good sleep will become easier for everyone.

There you have it, my predictions! 2025 is going to be a huge year at Pure Joy Wellness, and I can’t wait to share with you all that I’ve been working on. In the meantime, let me know what you think of these trends over on the Pure Joy Squad!
