6 Ways To Turn Your Bathroom Into A Blissful Spa
/Everyone loves a soothing trip to a luxurious spa, but unfortunately, that isn’t possible when we’re quarantined. To get through these difficult times, we have to do whatever we can to stay sane and keep our stress low—and that includes giving ourselves routine doses of self-care. Luckily, pampering yourself doesn't necessarily involve leaving the comfort of your home.
Transforming your bathroom into a spa isn’t as difficult (or as expensive) as you might think. When you really break it down, there are many ways to emulate the things you love most about going to a spa—the serene music that’s piped into the rooms, the dimmed lighting, or the ability to unplug from your devices and be present.
Believe it or not, you can turn your own bathroom into a spa with just a handful of products.
If you could use a little R&R and TLC (couldn't we all?), check out the below items (all available on Amazon!). Your bathroom will feel like a zenned out spa in no time.
Craving the comfort of a hot tub? I get it—nothing is more calming than a warm soak. To create your own version at home, add this portable jet set to your bathtub the next time you need to melt away tension or simply bask in the bliss of bubbles.
Some people have trouble relaxing in the tub—their mind is on other things, or they’re just not particularly comfortable. A quick fix for that is to get a full body bath cushion. It’s soft and supportive for your whole body, but particularly for your neck and head. Don’t need all that support? A smaller bath pillow works, too. Either is better than lying on the hard bathtub floor.
One of my favorite parts about any spa experience is the smell. Nothing comforts me quite like the faint scent of patchouli, eucalyptus, or lavender. Fortunately for us, this is easy to recreate at home with an essential oil diffuser. All you need is a diffuser, water, and your favorite essential oils. Fill it with water, add a few drops of oil, and voila—spa scents at home!
Whether you prefer to play tranquil spa music, put on a podcast, or just listen to your favorite songs, having a waterproof bluetooth speaker for your bathroom is a gamechanger. It gives your mind something else to focus on, and that can help you unwind even more. For those looking to de-stress, I highly recommend the Stress & Anxiety Free or Chill Pop playlists on Spotify.
5. Candles
Scented or unscented, having lit candles around makes me feel so at ease. Lately, I’ve been bringing my favorite into the bathroom to add a layer of scent or light to the experience. You can use any candle for this, but my go-tos are the small unscented votive candles or a larger eucalyptus and lemongrass scented candle (for when I’m not diffusing essential oils). Take this opportunity to turn off the harsh yellow or white light in your bathroom and have a candlelit bath. What could be more relaxing?
6. Bath Salts
The beautiful flower petal baths we see in magazines and on social media are beautiful, but that’s a lot of work to put in when you can just add some bath salts to your tub. Note that many of these have irritating ingredients like synthetic fragrance, so read the labels extra closely if you have sensitive skin. I love the Flower Bath Salts from Primally Pure, which contain skin-nourishing coconut milk and detoxifying epsom salts.
