10 Products That Will Help Soothe Your Aches & Pains
/When I was mulling over topics for this week’s blog post, I remembered something a woman at the gym asked me. “What can I do about my aches and pains?” I loved this question, because I know lots of women who deal with this, and I myself experience it! Her question got me thinking: What products have actually made a difference for my aches and pains?
You see, as I have gotten older, my body has developed more aches and pains, especially in my back and hips. To cope with them, I devote a lot of time to recovery and carve out time to do mobility work. It’s so important to work your joints and muscles at any age, otherwise your body can develop serious stiffness and pain. That’s why I am constantly looking for devices and products that can help loosen up those areas and keep my body feeling strong.
Here’s a list of products that I swear will soothe your aches and pains!
As some of you know, I have an affinity for massage guns. Not only are they amazing for muscle recovery, but they also help keep muscles loose and limber by promoting circulation. Knots in your back? A massage gun can help. Tension in your neck? Seriously, try a massage gun. The Hypervolt uses a percussive motion to break up any stiffness you’re feeling, and comes with a number of different attachments designed for specific muscle groups. Let’s just say it’s a *must* for anyone with aches and pains.
By using high intensity vibration, the Hyperice Therapy ball helps release and relieve painful trigger points in your body. I love this ball because it’s portable, compact, and works for a number of body parts. I personally use this to dissolve tension in my hip flexors, shoulders, and feet. If you deal with foot pain on a regular basis, this ball is a godsend. Did I mention it’s TSA approved? Goodbye aches and pains and hello new travel buddy!
Calling anyone with back and neck pain: This is the tool for you! If you have never heard of acupressure, it’s sort of like acupuncture’s sister—but it doesn’t require needles or a trained acupuncturist to do. Instead, acupressure mats, like this one, use small acupressure points to reduce pain, relax your muscles, and relieve stress. They also increase blood flow, help release toxins, and promote muscle recovery. This set is my favorite because it comes with a mat AND a neck pillow, so you reap the benefits of acupressure in your back and neck while also being more comfortable while using it (you can literally use this on the couch or in a desk chair if you want).
Now, this tool may look a little funny and you may have never seen anything like it before, but I cannot emphasize enough how much of a game changer it has been for my aches and pains. As I mentioned, my hips seem to get tighter and tighter every year of my life, and this tool has become a staple in my mobility and recovery routine. Think of it like your personal at-home massage therapist!
Foam rollers can be immensely beneficial for relieving tension in muscles—from our calves and quads to our glutes and backs. This foam roller from LuxFit is straightforward, simple to use, and delivers lots of relief. It’s a wonderful choice for foam rolling beginners, as well as those who prefer their foam rollers without any bells and whistles. I truly believe that everyone should own a foam roller, and this is a stellar option!
If you’re looking for a more intense foam roller, this one will do the trick. Designed to replicate a massage therapist’s hands, this foam roller has a textured surface that stimulates the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles for optimal function and recovery. The only difference between this foam roller and the standard LuxFit one is the exterior—you will get a deeper massage with the TriggerPoint textured foam roller, but for novices, this sensation can often be too intense or painful. So, novices: stick to the LuxFit one! More advanced rollers, take this for a spin.
Moving on to topicals! This CBD lotion from Lord Jones is an essential for anyone with aches and pains. It absorbs quickly, smells amazing, and delivers a soothing, cooling effect to relieve your muscle pain and stiffness. I love this lotion because it does all the work for me—once I put it on, it starts working right away, and I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day or night. I like to put it on after my post-workout shower or right before bed. Trust me, your muscles will thank you!
You all know I love a good bath, especially after a challenging workout or when my aches and pains are acting up. With ingredients like Himalayan salt, Epsom salts, and healing herbs, these Lord Jones bath salts are my go-to when I need to unwind and relax. Plus, I love the scent! I find the smell of evergreen and citrus essential oils so calming. These salts are the perfect way to treat yourself by treating your body right.
Let’s say your aches and pains are constant: You wake up every morning in pain, feel it all day, and go to sleep still feeling achy. One of the easiest ways to combat this is to add a recovery cream to your skincare routine, like the Extra Strength Relief & Recovery Cream from Sagely Naturals. This cream uses the soothing power of CBD to give your muscles and joints the relief they crave. If you have arthritis, aching legs, or general chronic pain, I encourage you to try this!
Last but not least is the magnesium spray from ASUTRA. I must say, I love nearly every product from this brand—the bath salts, CBD creams, and more—but this magnesium spray is by far my favorite. Magnesium (the main ingredient in this spray) is known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties, and its ability to relieve muscle cramps and joint pain. It can even ease your stress, anxiety, and headaches! For me, this spray is so convenient. I just spritz it right on my muscles (usually my calves), it absorbs quickly, and I instantly start to feel relief. I like to keep one in my bag for easy access whenever I feel sore or tense.
